Tipstrr’s racing pundits have cast their expert gaze across the Irish sea to the Curragh, where the Irish 2000 Guineas takes centre stage at 3.40pm on Saturday afternoon.
Field of Gold is strongly fancied to build on his runner-up spot in the English edition of the same race at Newmarket three weeks ago, but the buzz in the Tipstrr camp is that Hotazhell offers more attractive value to challenge the short-priced favourite.
Fourth of 10 on debut this time last year, Hotazhell was only beaten by one horse in his five subsequent two-year-old outings, beating some classy juveniles along the way.

In September he landed the Beresford Stakes over this very course and distance, a race in which he left this season’s Chester Vase winner, Lambourn, more than seven lengths behind
A month later Hotazhell stepped up in class to take on seven Group 1 rivals in the Futurity Stakes at Doncaster, where he defied his 11/1 price tag to edge out the highly-rated Delacroix, who has since emerged as one of the early favourites to win next month’s Epsom Derby.
Having been pulled from the French 2000 Guineas because of the fast going three weeks ago, he lines up as the only runner yet to make his season debut, but that withdrawal appears to have been with his race in mind and hopes are high that he can hit the Curragh’s more suitable ground running this afternoon.
Trainer Jessica Harrington and jockey Shane Foley teamed up to produce a couple of close-up seconds on the first day of this meeting on Friday, and the consensus in the Tipstrr camp is thatHotazhellhas the pedigree to put in a similar bold showing for them here at a decent price.
