Who can claim victory in the Victoria Cup at Ascot? The best horse racing tip of the day.

Tipstrr’s racing pundits landed us another winner with 9/4 shot East India Dock on Friday, and we’re hoping that Saturday's consensus tip can do the same when Myal lines up for the Victoria Cup at Ascot.

There’s plenty of likely candidates among the 17 scheduled starters, among them this Steph Hollinshead-trained gelding, who certainly merits serious consideration after winning five of his last six outings.

Myal defied a constantly rising mark when rounding off his 2024 campaign with four consecutive victories, and although that run came to an end on his season debut in March, the four-year-old was far from disgraced in coming a close-up third of 21 in the highly-competitive Spring Mile at Doncaster.

He didn’t have to wait long for his next visit to the winners' circle, seeing off nine higher-rated rivals last time out at Haydock a fortnight ago, when he was driven out to justify his favourite tag in some style.

Myal is unlikely to be sent off as favourite here, and he’s been hiked up another four pounds in the weights, but the feeling is that he is still one step ahead of the handicapper and looks attractively priced at around the 8/1 mark.

With just a handful of betting points covering the top half of the betting market, this handicap is clearly wide open, and there’s been enough support in the Tipstrr camp (and in the betting) to suggest that Myal can at least claim one of the five each-way places, and maybe even get his nose in front.

Victoria Cup  2.40pm Ascot

MYAL each-way (8/1 at time of writing)
