Tipstrr's Consensus Bet of the Day - Flat Season Gets Under Way with a Cracker of a Lincoln at Donny

The first day of the UK Flat season gets under way at Doncaster on Saturday afternoon, where the Lincoln Handicap takes centre stage, as it has done since 1965 when it was switched from its original Lincoln venue (hence the name).
Run over a straight mile, the Lincoln usually attracts a huge field, which makes it something of a betting minefield, illustrated by the fact that 10 of the last 13 winners were priced at 12/1 or more, with only one winning favourite in that time.
All of which brings us to Tipstrr’s consensus tip of the day, Sean, who is priced at around 14/1 at the time of writing, and who might just be poised to hit the ground running for trainer Jamie Osborne in this Flat season curtain raiser.
After spending his early days in Germany, Sean showed some promise on his first season in England last year, was far from disgraced in the Royal Hunt Cup cavalry charge at Royal Ascot, which he followed by a close-up second of 12 at the same venue a month later.
The eight-year-old should strip as fit as any of his rivals here after having three turf outings in the Middle East since the turn of the year, including another runner-up spot and a useful fourth place last time out earlier this month.
After a month’s rest, Sean appears to have been granted a favourable draw in stall 9, which should give jockey Willam Carver the option to choose which group to join if the field splits as the race develops.
Obviously, there will be plenty fancying their chances in what appears to be a pinsticker’s paradise, but with six places widely available (as many as seven if you shop around), Tipstrr’s each-way specialists clearly believe that Sean has the pedigree to at least make the frame.
