National League Betting Preview – Saturday 3rd February 2024
I'm Tom Feeney and these are my National League picks.
Well, there's some really interesting games taking place this weekend in the 5th tier and the first one to look at and there's a real rivalry here. Barnet against Wealdstone.
For Barnet, they know the importance of gaining as many points as possible in their quest to secure a playoff place at the end of the season, for Wealdstone, they're obviously looking further down the table, aiming to gain as many points as possible to stay in the division yet again.
There's a real rivalry that takes place between these two sides, both on and off the pitch. For Wealdstone. They know the importance of that away support but Barnetts have though the quality I feel to gain all three points in what would be an important win for the Bees in their quest to be in them top seven places come the end of the campaign.
Selection – Barnet v Wealdstone – Barnet to Win
A game that feels really important down further the table is York City going up against Maidenhead United since the arrival of Neil Ardley, a man who knows so much about the National League Division, York City have had that unbeaten run and they've also gained some good results as well, some frustrating ones to go with it. Whilst Maidenhead United, when you talk about experience and Allan Devonshire, really is the epitome of that, and this is going to be a really tough game for Maidenhead United they're unbeaten in their last four away league matches, going up against the York City side, who know the pressure will be on them for this match. I think it'll be a close game. Don't see many goals in it at all, less than 2.5 goals I feel would be the sensible bet here and I feel that a draw really has the makings of this match. It's going to be a really close contest and there won't be much given between either side.
Selection – York City v Maidenhead United – Draw and Under 2.5 goals
And so to the televised game taking place this weekend. And it's Ebbsfleet United going up against Oldham Athletic. Now the last time these two sides met, it really was a frustrating afternoon for Oldham as they were defeated 4-1 at home. Ebbsfleet’s best result of the season. I think there's a real argument to say that was the case. Well, Oldham have had a really good run of form away from home under Mickey Mellon. He spoken of the importance of the away support, while for Ebbsfleet they know just how important it is to pick up as many points as they can in their quest to stay in the National League for next season.
Got a feeling this is gonna be another quite close game that 4-1 loss less time for Oldham against Ebbsfleet doesn't tell the whole story. A lot of those goals were scored really late in the match. I've got a feeling this one again, not many goals in it. I do think though there will be both teams to score. Got a feeling with this it's going to be another draw taking place in the National League this weekend.
Selection – Ebbsfleet v Oldham – Draw and Both Teams To Score
