National League and FA Trophy Betting Preview – Thomas Feaheny – Saturday 9th March
I'm Tom Feeney and these are my National League and FA Trophy picks, so some really interesting fixtures taking place this weekend in both competitions and the first one to look at two sides aiming for promotion and that is Aldershot Town going up against Oldham Athletic.
For Oldham - They really have impressed away from home since the arrival of Mickey Mellon. For Aldershot Town, they've had a couple of blips at home, but by and large they do well there and I do feel this is going to be one of those games where they cancel each other out. I feel a draw is a safe bet. I do think both teams to score is likely as well.
Selection – Aldershot Town v Oldham Athletic – Draw and Both Teams To Score
Now a game between two sides, one looking up the table and one having to keep an eye on, making sure they stay in the division. It's FC Halifax Town up against Boreham Wood.
The Shaymen have been on a good run of form minus a blip against Bromley in the last game for Boreham Wood they had a disappointing result last time round conceding with the last kick of the game in a 1-1 draw against Gateshead.
I do feel FC Halifax Town will be the team who gain all three points and thus moving closer to those play off places for Boreham Wood, they will just be moving that little bit nearer to the relegation zone.
Selection – FC Halifax Town win
FA Trophy 6th Round
So now attention turns to the FA Trophy sixth round proper or the quarter finals, so near now until that big day at Wembley in the final and the first game to look at is between the two sides who are the favourites for the competition. It’s Bromley v Barnet.
Bromley have had a good run of form at home and both sides are going to take this seriously. For Barnet they've been a bit hit and miss since the turn of the year. I've got a feeling that Barnett will be able to grind this one out and be able to go through to the semi-finals.
Selection – Barnet win
Now a game between two sides who are not in the top 2 tiers of non-league football Macclesfield going up against Coalville Town.
Macclesfield have had a managerial change, Alex Bruce leaving the club a few weeks ago to join Salford City in a coaching capacity. Michael Clegg, who really impressed with Warrington Rylands is the new manager and Macclesfield have had a really good run of form in the last few weeks and months, they are aiming for promotion to the National League North next season, and they are currently in those playoff places. For Coalville Town they are mid table and all their focus can be on this competition. It will be an interesting game because neither side knows that much about each other in terms of on the day what will happen.
Macclesfield have had some impressive performances that win against Dorking Wanderers a few rounds ago has to be the highlight for them. For Coalville Town, they've beaten Bath City, they've beaten Bishop Stortford, so they've beaten teams in high divisions but this will be a step too far.
Selection – Macclesfield FC Win
