Leeds v Coventry

Leeds bounced back from their only defeat of the season against Burnley to make it three wins in four matches with a 2-0 away win against Cardiff City. They enter the weekend in sixth place off the back of their fourth clean sheet in five games.

Coventry are in 19th with just one win, which came 3-2 at home against Oxford United five games ago. It’s just been one point from the next 12 available and no win in their last six away matches (D3, L3). Boss Mark Robins will be very aware that his Sky Blues winning just one of their last 12 Championship matches stretching back to early April. That’s relegation form when they were hoping for a promotion tilt.

Leeds to win is okay at 4/7, but the 9/5 on a home win to nil is more appealing.

I’m also taking my goalscorer tips from this match and there’s two of them that appeal for betting value. Largie Ramazani scored his first Leeds goal against Cardiff and is 11/5 anytime, whereas Brenden Aaronson is getting himself back into the supporters’ good books with some impressive midfield displays. The American has notched twice in the six matches so far and appears decent at 2/1 to bag again.

Middlesbrough v Stoke

Middlesbrough are in 12th ahead of the weekend and will be seeking revenge for a 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Stoke in the Carabao Cup a month ago. Boro have taken four points from the next three league matches. Their only defeat in that period was last time out as they went down 1-0 at local rivals Sunderland.

James Buttler looks ahead to the seventh weekend of Championship action and picks out the best bets, including a treble and scorer selections.

Under 2.5 match goals has landed in five of six league matches this season and Stoke have only scored one away goal in three away trips. Boro are unbeaten at home with 1 win and 2 draws.

New Stoke head coach Narcis Pelach has a battle to win the supporters over and that may be a task that he won’t achieved this weekend.

Middlesbrough should have enough at home and Boro to win and Under 2.5 match goals is a pretty tempting 16/5.

Watford v Sunderland

It would be tempting to look at the Championship table and see Sunderland in 2nd and take them at 6/4 to beat Watford. But if the Black Cats have shown any vulnerability so far it has been in their away defeat to Plymouth, but even with that they have bagged six points and scored 7 goals in three matches on the road.

Watford, in 8th, have been a tough nut to crack at Vicarage Road with 2 wins and a draw in their last home match, a 1-1 with Coventry City. That good home form steers me away from betting on a Sunderland win and with four out of the last 6 matches between the teams being draws, the 12/5 on a point apiece makes sense. Both Teams To Score at 7/10 is also a play, but the last element of our treble this weekend is going to be over 3.5 match goals at 12/5.

James’ Championship Tips

• Leeds to win to nil at 9/5

• Boro to win and Under 2.5 match goals at 16/5

• Over 3.5 match goals in Watford v Sunderland at 12/5

Treble is worth 39/1

  • Largie Ramazani to score anytime at 11/5

  • Brenden Aaronson to score anytime at 2/1

As always, please gamble responsibly.
