Goals can flow at St.Andrews as Posh visit Blues, but in this week’s League One betting preview, David Easson thinks it’s Birmingham who can continue to rack up the wins
Five wins on the spin now for Birmingham, who really have hit their straps now in League One. Last week’s win over Rotherham was their first with a clean sheet though and with Peterborough coming to town that clean sheet will be under threat again. This could be anything. Peterborough are vastly better away from home, having scored at least 2 in each of their last 5 on the road in all competitions. But their last clean sheet was in April.
Birmingham take this in a barnstorming game with both sides scoring.
That’s 19/10 and into the treble.
Add Jay Stansfield in as an any time goalscorer for a 4/1 bet builder. He’s got 3 in his last 2 matches.
After a woeful start to the season, all seven of Leyton Orient’s points have come in their last 3 matches, with eye-catching away wins at Stockport and Reading and a 2-2 home draw with Peterborough. An even bigger test comes to town with top-of-the-table Wrexham. Now their rise to the top has been based in their incredible home form. Away, it’s a lot more iffy.
Orient can take another point here against a top side in the division. Make that a score draw at 17/5
It’s 5 defeats out of 6 in all competitions for Huddersfield and the feeling around the club is becoming all rather tense for manager Michael Duff, despite a great start to the season and the fact that they’re still somehow in 5th place. He needs a win fast. Can they get that at Reading in one of the early games? Well the Royals have lost 3 out of their last 4 and got royally thumped by struggling Bolton last week. If Huddersfield can try not to pass the ball into their own net this week, they should have enough firepower for another win on the road. The atmosphere at the John Smith’s is one they’re happy to get away from.
Yes, I’m tipping an away win at 11/8
So that’s a Birmingham win with both teams to score
A score draw between Orient and Wrexham
And a Huddersfield win at Reading.
Just shy of 30/1 as a treble.
