Gavin Puszczalowskyi is looking at this weekends action in League 2 and picking his three best bets.
At what point do you start to take note of the league table and the positions and trust teams to continue their good, or bad, start to the season?
A Newport Nap??
A case in point is Newport, who are 4th, and are at home to Port Vale, who are 17th. Newport has 9 points, Vale have 4. Newport have scored 9 goals in the league; Vale have scored 4. Newport are 47/20 at Unibet, Port Vale are 6/5.
Last week Newport were 21/10 to win at Morecambe, even thought Morecambe are winless and currently bottom. Played 4, lost 4, and I didn’t trust Newport, who won the game 1-0.
So, this weekend, I am trusting them. As mentioned, Newport have scored 9 goals with 6 different scorers netting already this season. Only Wildig and Baker-Richardson scoring more than once, Baker-Richardson is a definite anytime goal scorer shout at 21/10.
So, Newport have goals across their side, one of the reasons for their good start, and they’re facing a miss firing Port Vale side, who will get better, they have too much quality, but they started the season with 2 clean sheets in the league and have now conceded 7 goals in their last 2. Vale do concede, Newport do score.
Newport, 47/20 is a pick.
Miserable Morecambe
I mentioned Morecambe, played 4, lost 4, no goals scored, bottom of the table. Not the best start. They are away at Crewe who got their first win of the season with a come from behind late victory at Bromley, a nice little confidence boost for the home side. Morecambe have lost every league game 1-0 this season, and when these teams met last time, Crewe won 1-0.
Crewe are EVS at Quinnbet, which is my pick, but if you do fancy the 1-0 win for the home side, that is 6/1.
Brilliant Barrow
My final pick is Barrow, who are currently 3rd with 9 points, to win at home to Swindon who are currently 23rd, with 2 points. Barrow recently demolished Port Vale 4-0 at home and are yet to concede a goal at home, and Swindon have only scored 2 goals this season.
Swindon have won their last 2 games at Barrow, and Barrow won the last time they played at Swindon, but I’m backing the home side in this one. They are odds on in all places to win, 4/6, 17/20 but I’m going to boost the price with a lack of goals in the game.
7 of the last 10 league games at Barrow have been under 2.5 goals. Barrow to win and under 2.5 goals is 17/5 at BetMGM.
My selections for League 2 this weekend is Newport Count to beat Port Vale at 47/20, Crewe at EVS to beat Morecambe and Barrow and under 2.5 goals against Swindon at 17/5. This acca is around 29/1.
