You can take any of these picks individually or wrap them in to a fourfold.

Preston v Watford

Preston in 22nd, no win in four league games and only one win, that was at home against Luton, in their last 12 matches. It's woeful form. They seem to be bedded in for a relegation dogfight this season and their opponents Watford, they're up in eighth and far more impressive. Watford may only have taken one away win in the last seven league trips but the 13/8 on Watford winning on Wednesday is my best bet of the night. They're just a far better side than Preston.

Sheffield Utd v Swansea City

Sheffield United, they are hosting Swansea City and Sheffield United could go up to third with a win over the Swans who start the evening in 11th. On paper, there isn't much in this one, but home advantage should give the Blades another win.

James Buttler has the Wednesday Championship betting preview and he's put together a fourfold worth 43/1.

At Championship level, Sheffield United are two wins and a draw at home this season and despite the Swans beating Coventry in their last away trip, they'd already suffered defeats at Middlesbrough and at West Brom. The Blades are winning but not scoring huge amounts of goals in the process so Sheffield United and under 2.5 at 16/5 makes a lot of sense in that one.

Stoke City v Portsmouth

21st takes on 24th in this relegation scrap. Neither side has any good form to speak of. Their positions in the Championship table tell the tale, so forget the outrights on this one and go on the history of this fixture. Over 2.5 match goals has landed between these two teams in nine of the last ten head-to-heads. That's a 4/5 play.

Bristol City v Sheffield Wednesday

City have taken seven points from the nine available in their three home matches this season, scoring seven goals in those games. Wednesday have lost all three away league trips, scoring only once. Two ways to play this one. A City win is 6/5. Either side to score a goal in the first half, as has happened in the last six Bristol City matches, is 4/11. We'll take the bigger price.

James Championship Tips

  • Watford to win at 13/8

  • Over 2.5 match goals in Stoke v Portsmouth at 4/5

  • Bristol City to win at 6/5

  • Sheffield United win at under 2.5 match goals at 16/5

Put them into a fourfold at 43/1.

Enjoy the football on Wednesday evening and please gamble responsibly.
