James Buttler looks ahead to the 16th round of Premier League action and picks out the best Saturday bets with a treble.
Aston Villa v Manchester City (12.30 start)
Can you trust Villa to win matches at the moment? No. They had been getting back to winning ways with wins over Brentford and Southampton, but then lost 2-1 at Forest, with goals conceded in the 87th and 90th minutes.
As for Man City, their well-documented on win in 11 matches in all comps doesn’t make me want to back them to win this weekend at 23/20.
City have conceded at least once, often more, in that 11-game slump, whereas Jhon Duran has three-in-three matches across all competitions. The quick bet for this one is to trust an element that can be trusted, so let’s take Duran at 5/2 with UniBet to bag again.
Brentford v Nottingham Forest (3pm start)
Brentford are in 11th and visitors Forest are a nosebleed inducing fourth, the sort of position that would probably have to be spelt out in letters on the old vidiprinter to ensure people believe it.
But for this one I’m forgetting the winner markets and heading straight to asking you to remember what matches at the Gtech Community stadium produce. Goals. Goals. Goals!
In the last five home games for the Bees there have been an eyewatering 20 goals scored by the home side and another 11 bagged by the visitors. Brentford have won all five. All five matches have produced over 4.5 match goals. One even produced eight.
But let’s not get silly. The quick bet here for Betting Radio is straightforward. Another Brentford home game to go over 4.5 match goals is 21/4 with Bet MGM.
Crystal Palace v Arsenal (5.30pm start)
Palace have taken only two points from their last three home matches, they lost 3-2 at Arsenal in the Carabao Cup in midweek, and Arsenal are unbeaten in nine matches in all competitions, including six wins, and will be keen to bounce back from a 0-0 draw at home to Everton last weekend which saw them slip to fourth in the Premier League.
Sometimes you can overthink betting. You can roam around the markets attempting to find a funky bet, or seeking the big prices, but Arsenal win this match. Are they huge at 8/13? No. But is that backable, or worth rolling into an accumulator? Of course it is. So the quick bet for Betting Radio is Arsenal to win at 8/13. It just makes sense.
James' Premier League Treble
If you put those three selections together you get a 32.1 treble with Bet MGM.
