Women's Update

Before we get to the Men's Final, at the time of writing the Women's Final is about to get underway. We've got two of our fancies in the final, so we can't really lose if you followed my picks throughout the last fortnight. If you're on either Jessica Pegula or Aryna Sabalenka, you can obviously play the other one in the final and guarantee yourself a profit. So, things have gone well on the women's side of things.

Jannik Sinner v Taylor Fritz

As far as the men are concerned, then it has gone very well indeed. Taylor Fritz, put up at the start of this tournament 50/1 each way, is in the final, and has already landed the each way element of the bet at 25/1 to be in the top two.

SkySports tennis commentator James Buttler looks at the Jannik Sinner v Taylor Fritz US Open Final after a very successful two weeks at Flushing Meadow.

If he wins the tournament the 50/1 lands as well. So, if you followed the Taylor Fritz outsider pick at the very start of this tournament, play Jannik Sinner to give yourself a little bit of cover and guarantee yourself a return.

Sinner, the no.1 in the world starts as favourite. The course has been cleared for him a little bit with Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz going out fairly early in the competition. Sinners starts the final at 5/19 against Fritz 10/3.

They've played each other twice before, both times on American soil and the H2H stands 1-1, both played at Indian Wells. Fritz won 2-0 in 2021 and Sinner got his revenge in 2023 with a 2-1 victory.

For fellow Fritz backers, there is still very much reason to believe that he can lift the trophy on home soil in front of an American crowd. It would be a very popular victory.

A Long Match

I'll tell you one thing, this is not going to be a quick match. Fritz has got a big serve, Sinner is hard to break, so over 4.5 sets in the match is 11/4.

Probably the best way to play it though is to play overs on the games. because if we get long sets, plenty of service holds, then a tiebreak set is obviously 7-6, and 13 games. If you go into the fourth set, on that kind of basis, 7-6s and 7-5s along the way, take a look at over 37.5 games in the match at 11/10. Better than even money on something I think has got a very, very good chance indeed.

For the first set to be decided on a tiebreak is 5/2. Play that as well.

And, even for there to be just one tiebreak in the match, yes is 4/7.

I certainly don't think this is a simple victory for either player.

Be sensible and take some cover on the Fritz 50/1

As we've gone through this fortnight, Taylor Fritz has been our man at 50/1, taking us all the way into the final. He's landed us the each way prize at 25/1 on him getting to the final. And he's carrying our cash and 50/1 into the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

So, stick a little bit, if you're on that Fritz bet, on Jannik Sinner to at least guarantee yourself a profit.

We've had a number of winning bets as we've gone through. Sabalenka, Fritz and Navarro have all played their part in making it a very good US Open betting-wise.

It's been a fantastic tournament to watch. (3:01) It's been a pleasure to bring it to you on Betting Radio. And however you bet in the finals, good luck with your bets, gamble responsibly, and enjoy the tennis.

I will see you next time.
