Gavin Puszczalowskyi is looking at this weekend's Grand Prix in Singapore and is picking his favourite bets.
Round 18 of the Formula 1 season heads to the tight and twisty streets of Singapore for one of the most gruelling races, for the drivers, in the entire season. 19 corners and high temperatures.
Typically, a driver will lose as much as three kilos of body weight through sweat during the two-hour race in Singapore, which is the equivalent of three litres of fluid. A real test of endurance while racing around at extremely highs speeds, at night, with a single mistake being punished by the walls that run alongside the track, waiting patiently to instantly end your race.
Fantastic Ferrari
Carlos Sainz won the race last year with one of the most tactical wins I have ever seen in F1. He allowed Lando Norris to stay within a second of his Ferrari to use his DRS to hold off a charging Hamilton and Russell, who, on fresher tyres, we’re looking to overtake the Spaniard to win. Sainz used Norris as a buffer, Russell crashed on the last lap, Hamilton stayed 3rd, Sainz won. Amazing job.
And Ferrari are play to win again.1st last year in Singapore, as I have mentioned, and 2nd and 3rd the year before.
Charles Leclerc is 4/1, 2nd last week in Azerbaijan, and Piastri at 9/2, who won last weekend in Baku. Both are a play to win.
Leclerc is also a play at 3/1 to be on pole. He is in great form, that Ferrari has had a recent upgrade which has worked well, look at the results in Italy and last weekend, where Leclerc did put his Ferrari on pole.
Yuki Tsunoda is not having the best of times of late in the RB. He retired last weekend after being hit by Stroll, and he has not finished the last 2 races in Singapore. He is 4/1 at BetVictor to not be classified, this means to not be in the race after 90% of the race being completed, that is a play for me.
A Williams double?
I could also be tempted by the 5/1 at Ladbrokes, for both Williams, Albon and new team mate, Colapinto, to both finish in the top 10. They did so in Baku, albeit it helped by Perez and Sainz crashing out on the penultimate lap, but even had they not, it would have been a double points finish for a rejuvenated Williams team.
