James Buttler looks ahead to the tenth weekend of Premier League action and picks out the best bets with a treble.
Ipswich Town v Leicester City
It’s a battle between two promoted sides at Portman Road. Ipswich were 2-0 up and lost 4-3 against Brentford last weekend whereas Leicester City lost 3-1 at home to East Midlands rivals Nottingham Forest. So, plenty of goals in each match and expect more in this one.
The Tractor Boys have been struggling to keep a lead, with 10 points dropped from winning positions (D4, L5) and they are in 18th on four points, whereas the Foxes have nine points in 15th.
There have been 20 goals in Ipswich’s last five league matches and Leicester’s last five have produced 18. Both Teams To Score is obvious and short at 8/13. Let’s go for it. Over 4.5 match goals is 24/5 and is the first part of the treble.
My scorer tip comes in this match. Liam Delap has scored four-in-four games and is 11/5. I was tempted to put up Sammie Szmodics, who has four-in-three against Leicester and notched in the away loss to Brentford, but the price of 5/2 on him to bag again isn’t that better than Delap’s, so I’ll stick with the 11/5 on Delap to continue his great run.
Nottingham Forest v West Ham
Forest are flying in seventh after back-to-back wins over Crystal Palace and Leicester City, whereas West Ham have won two of their last three and sit in 13th. But both of those West Ham wins came at home and Forest at the City Ground are weaker than when on their travels.
The one man that has brought us betting success recently has been Kiwi Chris Wood. The striker has scored seven goals this season and bagged a brace against Leicester. Let’s back him while he’s hot at 2/1 anytime.
Liverpool v Brighton
Liverpool have won seven and drawn one of their first nine league matches, with the solitary defeat coming at home to Forest in their fourth match of the season. Arne Slot would have been pleased with an away point at Arsenal last weekend, particularly after being behind twice.
A win against Brighton on Saturday afternoon would see Slot become the first Liverpool manager ever to win eight of his first 10 matches in charge. I don’t know about you but, as a neutral, I enjoy watching Liverpool play more this season without Jurgen Klopp blowing a gasket on the touchline every five minutes.
Brighton won’t be easy foes, although there was a dress rehearsal on the south coast in midweek when Liverpool won 3-2. Brighton are in sixth place, but did haemorrhage a two-goal lead against Wolves last weekend when they conceded goals in the 88th and 93rd minutes.
Both Teams To Score at 8/13 and Liverpool to win at 4/7 both have appeal in what may be another tight encounter, but seeing as I’m going with scorers in this treble, Mo Salah at 19/20 boosts the acca nicely. Salah scored home and away against Brighton last season and has nine goals in 14 matches against the Seagulls. He’s also scored three-in-four Premier league matches and is bang in form.
James’ Premier League Tips
Over 4.5 match goals in Ipswich v Leicester at 24/5
Chris Wood to score anytime for Forest at 2/1
Mo Salah to score anytime for Liverpool at 19/20
That treble is 32/1 with BetMGM.
Also, Liam Delap to score anytime for Ipswich at 11/5 is another great scorer pick.
