Dave Tindall highlights a key stat ahead of next week's showdown at Royal Troon
Hi, this is Dave Tindall with an early look at next week's Open Championship at Royal Troon in Scotland.
Now, if you look at past editions held there - that's 2016 when Henrik Stenson won, 2004 Todd Hamilton, 1997 Justin Leonard - you'll see that scrambling was a massive factor, a real good pointer to who might come out on top.
So who are the best scramblers this season?
Well, looking at the top 15, you've got first in scrambling this year Xander Schauffele who won the US PGA a couple of months ago, you've got Hideki Matsuyama at number three, Scottie Scheffler, of course, the world number one, he's fifth in scrambling this season, Tommy Fleetwood, always thought of as a potential Open champion, he's 10th in scrambling, Rory McIlroy - could he get some redemption after his US Open heartache? - he's 12th in scrambling this season on the PGA Tour and Ludvig Aberg, the young Swede, he's 14th in scrambling.
So those six names are well worth looking at because they are really sharp around the greens and that's what you need to do.
Looking at prices, Scottie Scheffler is currently 9/2 to win the Open Championship, Rory's there at 9/1, you've got Schauffele at 14s, Tommy Fleetwood 25s, Ludvig Aberg at 18/1 and the one perhaps a bit of value, Hideki Matsuyama at 40/1.
So a few names there to look at ahead of the Open Championship which starts at Royal Troon on July the 18th.
