National League Betting Preview with Thomas Feaheny - Saturday 23rd December
Listen to the Preview
I'm Tom Feaheny and these are my National League picks, so the first games of the festive calendar will be underway this weekend and there's going to be some really interesting 5th tier action taking place.
The first game I've got to look at is Chesterfield taking on Aldershot Town. It's been almost a perfect start to the season for Paul Cook's side. And
Their home form has been so impressive throughout the campaign. They do win when they play at home, look like a team they just play on a different level despite the away form being so impressive as well,
At home there is a real argument to be made that they could go unbeaten for the whole campaign in the National League. So I've got a feeling that that will be continuing although. They've got a good game against a tough opposition in Aldershot Town.
I do feel Paul Cook's side will be gaining another three points. But I do think there's going to be goals in this one and I'm going to say over 2.5 goals in this match.
Wealdstone are another team who can be relatively satisfied with how their season has gone so far, considering everything going on there. It's been a good season for them. They keep defying the odds year in, year out since their arrival in the National League and they always seem to do really well against teams at home who are expected to do well in the competition they take on Hartlepool United and it simply is a case with Hartlepool, you don't know which team is going to turn up.
When they're on form, they really are hard to beat and they play some good attacking football. When they're off form they're quite easy to beat and they don't seem to get going, and I've got a feeling that Wealdstone fans will try to make this a bit of an intimidating atmosphere for Hartlepool and it will be Wealdstone who are able to gain the three points.
If they do win, I think it will be by a single goal. Wealdstone have shown that they're competitive. In this division, once again with the majority of their games having only a single goal in it.
There was an expectation at the start of the season that Oxford City would always be in and around the relegation places for the entire campaign, and that has been the case so far. They only have a couple of highlights really this campaign, although they are still well within the fight to try and stay in the National League for next season, they take on Solihull Moors. Who had that incredible start? They've tailed off a little bit but they have started to gain momentum once again with a couple of results that can be picked out over the past few weeks and I've got a feeling that it will be Solihull who gained the away victory in this one, which would be an important win for a side who are aiming for a top seven place come the end of the 20/23/24 season.
Well, there's going to be plenty of action taking place. It's going to be really interesting to see what happens this weekend in the National League.
