National League Betting Preview – Saturday 24th February
I'm Tom Feeney and these are my National League picks, so let's start first of all, with the game that is being televised, then it's Eastleigh going up against Bromley.
For Eastleigh a few months ago, they did look like a team that would be challenging for a playoff place, come the end of the season but now they really are looking over their shoulder and trying to stay in the 5th tier of English football.
They've made the decision with Richard Hill leaving the club and Kelvin Davis, the former Southampton goalkeeper, being appointed manager and they are taking on the Bromley side, who of course gained that impressive win against Chesterfield last weekend and while it really hasn't made much of a difference in their quest to win the league, it really has solidified their place in those top seven positions, they will be looking for a play off place can be end of the season and realistically they should be going into it as one of the favourites to gain promotion and I do think they'll be gaining another victory in this game as well.
Selection – A comfortable Bromley win
Barnet’s form since the start of the year has been best described as hit and miss, and it really has led to them fighting now for the play off place rather than having any chance of gaining automatic promotion.
They've had exciting news earlier in the week, with plans revealed for them to move back into the area with a new stadium and it'll be interesting to see whether those plans can go ahead in the very near future. They'll be focusing on gaining the three points this weekend going up against York City.
For York, it's been quite simple - They know just getting the points on the board is so important. A couple of draws, a couple of wins will make such a difference in their quest to stay in the 5th tier.
It's going to be a really tough game though, for York – Barnet to win but I do think both teams will score in this one because the Bees have been conceding of late.
Selection – Barnet win and Both Teams to Score.
And so, to the final game between two sides who at the start of the season, you would have expected quite a considerable gap in terms of their expectations. Now they both are aiming for the same thing and that is to not be relegated. Woking have had a disappointing season so far and their home form has been really disappointing to go with it as well. And they did gain a win a few weeks ago against Oxford City. This time they go up against Wealdstone, who have a new manager in charge now and they know they have to get some points on the board.
It really is a case if you're in the bottom half of the National League, you could be relegated at the end of the season, and I've got a feeling that this one has got a draw written all over and I think Wealdstone will be able to see it out and get what would be a really good point. For them, and another concerning result for Woking in their quest to stay in the National League.
Selection – Woking v Wealdstone - Draw
