FA Cup Preview - Saturday 6th January 2024
Listen to the Preview
I am on the search for FA Cup upsets in the 3:00 PM kick offs on Saturday and the 1st place to start in the search for an FA Cup upset is deepest, darkest Lancashire he would park to be precise.
Where we will have a look at Cambridge who are as big as six to one in places to win at last year's FA Cup Quarter finalist Blackburn Rovers. The are extremely short to win.
Now Blackburn Rovers and the FA Cup at Ewood Park is not a winning combination in the last 10 games at home in this famous old competition, Blackburn Rovers have won just two of those 10 and both of them were back in 2017 against Blackpool and Barnet.
Their good run last season, was based entirely on their away form. And throw into the mix and extremely poor league form for Blackburn, one win in eight, and I think Cambridge, who won one nil at Newcastle in the FA Cup almost two years to the day, can get something from this game. 6/1 is simply too big, but double chance Cambridge or draw is 2/1 and that is tasty.
Now the next team that is interesting. Is Chesterfield top of the National League, winning plenty, scoring plenty and full of confidence, who travel to Watford, who have not won at home in four in the Championship.
The Spirerites have already knocked out two league teams to get to this stage. Portsmouth and Leyton Orient, so they will relish a crack at the Hornets.
Now Chesterfield are around 9/2 to win, but I'm simply going for goals in this one.
The last FA Cup game at Vicarage Rd was Watford. 3 Tranmere, 3 so Chesterfield to score both halves is 4 to 1, which is a bit big Spirerites to score over 1.5 goals is 12/5 and I like that.
The last shout, and this is purely based on FA Cup form is Bristol Rovers to get something at Norwich City.
Norwich City, who like Blackburn have an awful FA Cup record at home. In fact, it's worse than Blackburns. In the last 14 home games in this competition, Norwich have won just two of them, two wins out of 14 and Bristol Rovers away from home in the FA Cup, their last ten away games, just three defeats and throw into the mix that Bristol Rovers come into this game in better form with four wins in six compared to Norwich, who have won one in their last five so Bristol Rovers would be a very interesting shout and I can find them as big as 4 to 1 to win at Norwich on Saturday afternoon.
Whatever your bets are in the FA Cup or any other sporting action this weekend, please do always gamble responsibly.
