Wednesday’s FA Cup 4th Round Replays – Betting Preview
David Easson looks ahead to the FA Cup 4th round replays – possibly the last set of FA cup replays ever!
Chelsea go to Aston Villa for their 4th round replay with Mauricio Pochettino possibly on the brink. The Stamford Bridge faithful, who’ve been really quite patient with him this season, finally broke during their weak capitulation to Wolves on Sunday, hot on the heels of the trashing they got at Liverpool last week. You wonder if he’ll get the chance to lead his side out at Wembley for the Carabao Cup Final. They go to Villa with a set of away form figures that are nothing short of a scandal for Chelsea. One win in 7 away from home, losing the rest quite comfortably. Even the win at Luton was nearly thrown away late on. Villa’s home record may have gone but Unai Emery’s men looked rejuvenated by Doctor Sheffield United at the weekend. Ollie Watkins looked confident again and what a way to get back winning. Emery knows his cup competitions and I think they’ll easily despatch the Blues here. While Chelsea have a super record at Villa Park, Villa have played Chelsea 3 times in the last 12 months and not conceded a single goal.
Villa to win in the 90 with Watkins scoring anytime is 3/1
Forest face Bristol City in the other replay on Wednesday with Nuno’s men having won just 2 of their last 12 home games. The Forest Fortress has lost its edge somewhat. You can make a case for Bristol City here but let’s be honest it wouldn’t be a very good one. The winners face Manchester United at home and maybe, just maybe, that will spur the away side on a bit here. They love an away draw and with Forest looking more at Newcastle on Saturday than this game, I think it will go the distance. I still think Forest qualify, but the draw at 100/30 is the one for me. Play this one out in my head and I’m thinking Forest’s quality should see them through in extra time. That’s 8/1
